My Travel Essentials
So I've realised that my past few posts have been more of a way to get to know me, telling you some of my favourite things, so this time I'm gonna change things up a bit, and let you in on all my travel essentials.
I'm no travel n tourist kinda person if that's the image you're getting. It's the same journey I'm making every single time when I say 'travel', (my boyfriend lives a 4 hour train journey from me) but of course, if I were to ever be going anywhere else (which is super unlikely because lets be real, I'm a super indoors kinda person) then for sure these are what I'd also have in my bag with me.
I obviously have my suitcase that comes with me, but they're not the sort of essentials I'm on about, cause going without clothes would be a slight nightmare. I'm talking about all the bits'n'bobs that get chucked into my handbag before I travel, that probably aren't the most necessary, but they'll always come just in case.

- Moisturiser. I use the Simple, Kind to Skin, light moisturiser. I did originally use the Rich moisturiser but I found that it was superrrr dewy on my face and didn't seem to moisturise my skin very well, but this ones perfect. I try my best to moisturise every single night before bed, so this can't be forgotten whenever I'm away from home.
- Cotton pads and Micellar water. I use the Simple, Kind to Skin, Micellar Water. I find that Simple products are the best as they're so natural and they don't irritate my skin. I'll always take this around with me as I always like to make sure my face is clean and moisturied. Especially after travelling you definitely don't want to have a dirty-feeling face.
- Hairbrush. Now this is kinda obvious. I don't even like going to work without my hairbrush, let alone anywhere else. My hair is pretty long and also really thick, so it tangles easily, so I'm always carrying my hairbrush.
- Lip Balm. I'm not sure about you, but especially in the winter, my lips get super chapped. I'm not going to lie though, I make matters worse for myself. I'll sit and bite my lips wayyyy too much. I always like to carry around a lip balm with me. You can get them super cheap from some places like Superdrug. I like to use the Nivea ones. I pop it on whenever I feel like I need to or right before bed.
- Hand Sanitiser. I don't know what I'd do without this stuff. Who wants to be touching all the hand rails and seats on a train without being able to sanitise your hands after? Because I don't. To be completely honest, when I'm in public I usually put my sleeve over my hand before I touch any form of hand rail, door handle, button, you name it. I'm NOT a fan of having dirty hands, so I go through a bottle of this stuff super fast, but it's hard not to with this one smelling so nice. Its a win-win!
- Perfumes & Deodorant. Another MUST. I have to say, trains aren't something I'm too bothered by, I quite enjoy travelling by train, but trams, ew. Idk about where you're from and if you even have trams where you live, but the ones I've been on just aren't nice. You get on them, and you have this horrible grimey smell, it's just so sweaty and gross on them things, I really hate it, so I always need to have a nice perfume in my handbag so I can get to it easily. I feel so dirty after going on a tram, so perfume and deodorant is a must.
- Panty Liners/Pads. This is a must for any of the girls reading this. Especially more so if you're just starting. Periods can be all over the place within the first year and could start at any point,so it's always good to have 2 or 3 pads in your bag with you juuusttttt to be on the safe side.
- Earphones. I wouldn't know what to do if I'd forgot my earphones, and it actually happened to me once. Well, I didn't forget them, but mine broke. I can't say that a 4 hour journey is much fun without having tunes to bop around to. Don't worry, I don't bop around on the train but you get the jist ~cue the laughs~. I ended up going to a small card shop and buying a cheap pair of headphones to last the journey!
- Dry Shampoo. A literal lifesaver. My hair gets greasy way too quick, and that's usually because I have my hair down quite often so I end up fiddling with it and touching it to get it out of my face. I don't really like to travel with my hair down so much anymore as I feel like it gets so much dirtier than it would tied up, but I always like to have some dry shampoo on me just for a quick fix up.
- Make up bag. My make-up bag isn't the biggest ever, but not necessarily small either. Lets just say it fits perfectly in my handbag. When I travel I prefer to not where any make-up as I try to keep my skin make-up free whenever I can get away with it, and travelling is one of them times. But I do always carry my make up bag in my handbag as appose to my suitcase as I feel like if I ever need a tad of concealer to fix my undereye circles, then I'll do that.
- A snack and a bottle of water. This is an obvious one to me! I always carry a snack on me.. I don't get too hungry when I'm travelling, but I'll always carry some form of healthy snack and one not so healthy snack, just in case I feel like I need a bit of sugar to keep me going! Usually when I travel I get up at about 6:30 in the morning to get ready, so I'm definitely tired when I'm on the train!
- Money. Now this is important. I usually hate to carry cash on me, but when I'm travelling I always make sure to have a bit of cash in my bag just to be safe. It wasn't long ago that I was travelling up to see my boyfriend for his 21st birthday, I got to the station and realised I'd forgot my bank card (ikr, who forgets their bank card???) This meant that I couldn't print my tickets from the machine (which I had originally paid £12 for as I paid in advance), so I had to buy more tickets. Thankfully, I had £45 in my purse and the tickets I had to re-purchase were £44 to travel on the day (Shocking I know). It's just always handy to have a bit of cash just to be sure.
- Portable charger. Last but not least!! As I've said above, I love to listen to music when I'm sat on the train, gazing out of the window like I'm in some sort of movie ~yet again, lets cue the laughter~. My phone dies very fast. I don't even need to be on it and the battery drains way too fast! Sometimes it'll jump from about 80% down to about 35% and I'm like Say Whaaaa???? I don't think my portable charger was too expensive either, I found it on Amazon. There's loads on there so that's the first place I'd recommend looking if you're after a portable charger.
And that rounds up my travel essentials. I know I've said it already but I'll say it again. I know it's not 'proper' travelling, but any form of getting from one place to another is travelling...and this is something I do often, so these are the essential things I carry with me in my handbag. If I were going on holiday or anywhere else for that matter of fact, then I'd still take these things with me so it'd apply for anywhere I were to go.
Thank you so much if you've read this far! I really appreciate people reading these posts. I have fun writing them but it feels so rewarding knowing that people are actually reading them!
See you in my next post,
Bye,
Elisa :)
